NATIONAL TALENT SEARCH EXAMINATION
(STAGE-I, for the students studying in Class X in the UT of Puducherry)

The first stage of National Talent Search (NTS) Written Examination (State Level) is conducted by the Directorate of School Education, Puducherry under the guidance of Ministry of Human Resource Development, New Delhi in order to identify the talented students and nurture them. Then, based on the merit list of this written examination 20 students [11-General, 1-EWS, 5-OBC and 3-S.C.origin] as per the quota allotted to the UT of Puducherry will be eligible to participate in the Second Stage written examination (National Level) conducted by the NCERT, New Delhi. The students selected in the Second Stage of the Written Examination (National Level) is conducted by the NCERT, New Delhi and selected students will receive scholarship from the NCERT, New Delhi. The Government of Puducherry awards Rs.5,000/- to the students selected in the State Level Examination (stage-I) and Rs.10,000/- to students who are selected in the National Level Examination (stage-II) as one time incentive.

        The students who clear both the Examination (NTS, stage-I and stage-II) will be awarded of Rs.1250/- per month for class XI and XII, Rs. 2000/- per month for under graduate and post graduate, amount of scholarship for Ph.D is fixed in accordance with the UGC norms.


NATIONAL MEANS CUM MERIT SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME EXAMINATION

The National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Written Examination is conducted by the Directorate of School Education under the guidance of by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD),New Delhi for the Economically weakers section students to arrest their drop-outs. As per the State Quota, students will be selected for the award of scholarship on the basis of the Merit List. For the Union Territory of Puducherry, 125 Scholarships are allotted by the MHRD, New Delhi.

        The selected students will be awarded scholarship of Rs. 12000/- per annum for classes from IX to XII based on the criteria prescribed by the MHRD, New Delhi.
